For my Capstone project, I will be making a radio talk show program. Kevin Williams has agreed to be my project director. I have done radio production before and may continue it after finishing college.
The radio program will have a talk show format mixed in with some variety show (sort of like Saturday Night Live). The show will have celebrity guests and they will be done by a friend of mine who will do the impressions along with myself. It will be an expanded version of a short radio program I did a while ago.
I got the idea to do this from years of watching stuff like SNL and The Simpsons and comedies in general. I also drew inspiration from old radio shows like ones with Bob Hope. It also just came from making people laugh. The person who helped me with the original short has been a friend of mine for close to 20 years. We make each other laugh and decided to do the radio short to test our talents (and it was for a class of mine, but I digress). We came up with ideas and then improvise a lot of the material. I played the host and would bring him on as different people (examples: Bane from Batman and Marlon Brando) and I would feed him whatever popped into my head and see what he would say in character. We even did mock commercials (my friend did a commercial supporting the Obama campaign as Harry Carry).
I want to try to make this a longer program (maybe do a live rendition of it for the project, if possible). It would be the same format, but with different things added this time (more skits on the show, maybe a musical guest). My partner and I would do the recording and writing, and I would do the editing. Last year, I had different people from different age groups listen to our original short. People understood the jokes and the references we made. We didn't try to cater to a specific age group, so I think all ages can enjoy this.
