This being a mock talk show, I wanted to take a few pages from the master of the talk show, Johnny Carson. Here's Johnny!: Thirty Years of America's Favorite Late-Night Entertainer talks about Carson's years on The Tonight Show in great detail. It talks about everything, from Carson's monologues to the celebrities he had on the show. I used Carson's format for the project. It's a format that various talk-shows have used since Carson used it during the original Tonight Show. The guests come on and we go back and forth with jokes. There were a few things I wanted to try that Carson did extremely well. One of was his monologues, a staple in late-night talk shows. Another thing I wanted to try that Carson made popular was his use of skits and characters. Carson came up with various characters during his run including Carnac the Magnificent. I came up with a couple of characters including a person named The Australian Guy. He would just be a guy from Australia who would comment on talking points of the day or the moment. I wasn't able to make any of these ideas fit into the final product, but the ideas alone I can thank the King of Late-Night for.
