Media and War

"Rules of Engagement: "Journalism and War" by Stuart Allan and Barb Zelzier was an interesting read to me because I am going into the field of journalism and this passage should be a must read for all journalists, especially the ones about to go into a war zone

It is hard for a journalist to be netural in the media business these days with pressures from the people they work for (or networks) and their own beliefs. I can't imagine how hard it is to remain netural on a battlefield. However, it is their jobs to report on the facts of what is going on around them. But even though the're over there doing their jobs, those same people learn that it isn't just about the soldiers fighting each other on the the battlefield, its about the people caught up in the middle like civilians or the families of the soldiers. It changes the reporters perspective on the conflict if they never experienced it before.

It was a really good read and it definitely should be read by people going into the journalism field.
